Are you dealing with the negative aftermath of a layoff?
Cuts cause wounds that require care.
Workforce cuts are no different. And without proper attention and care, wounds don’t heal. No matter how carefully a layoff has been handled, they undoubtedly cause stress, fear, anxiety, and survivor’s guilt in those who remain. Your employees are hurting.

Layoffs massively affect remaining employees due to Layoff Survivor Stress (LSS), which brings with it grief for the loss of coworkers and friends, as well as uncertainty and fear of the unknown.
In a recent survey on LSS, 77% of employees surveyed reported an increase in mistakes. Also, 74% reported a drop in productivity, and 69% reported a drop in the quality of their work. And a whopping 81% reported a drop in customer service. These findings, taken from a survey of 4,172 workers from 318 companies, demonstrate just how costly the unintended consequences can be following a layoff.
The good news is, the same data also showed that effective leadership mitigated most of the effects of Layoff Survivor Stress.
Yet most leaders have not been equipped to lead through major workforce changes. Not only are they experiencing the pain themselves, but they often lack the communication skills to navigate the myriad of difficult changes.
Every company has the power to do things differently.
